Part 5: Long Road
Early in the morning I started my journey to Diamond City. I marked it on my pip boy and thought it would be an easy and relatively short voyage. I did not know yet that it would be the longest day of my life. The road was quiet for some time, but then I saw a cafe. There was a lady and two people, a man and a woman in leather jackets, having an argument with the owner of that cafe. When i approached them, they pointed their guns at me. Deescalation attempt failed. I pulled my gun in a cowboy manner and quickly put an end to their miserable existence. The owner of that cafe, an elder woman, thanked me with 100 bottlecaps(oh, those bottlecaps). It turned out I saved her son from purchasing more drugs from those dealers. I was starting to feel like a hero. First I saved lives in Concord, now I did it again. And I came out of the Vault just a couple of days ago. I resupplied in which turned out to be an all-round store and resumed my journey. Shortly after my Pip Boy caught a new frequence - unknown people were asking for help! The place that they were in was between me and Diamond City, and I didn't want to come off the road anyway.
When I arrived at the Boston Police Station, I encountered zombies. Well, they also call them Ghouls. So now I know what this means. Irradiated humans, reduced to a walking corpse. They were very agile and made a terrific noise, but I dealt with them very easily. A man in a power suit thanked me for my effort. He said he was from the Brotherhood of Steel, an organization devoted to prevent evil people from accessing advanced technology.
My primary goal was still Diamond City, but I decided to help them out with their problem - they needed to restore communications wit their HQ. I agreed to help, but not because I was eager to. I just knew how dangerous the outside world had become and I didn't even know if I could get to Diamond City at all, because who knows what lies ahead. Maybe they would help me with supplies. And they did. They lavishly granted access to their ammo stockpile, which was great, because I was running low on supplies.
My next job was to follow Paladin Danse on a dangerous mission - finding a transmitter in an abandoned facility. The problem - it was occupied by the so-called synths from the Institute. After heavy fighting we achieved our goal and then agreed to meet back at the Police Station. I am writing this in my diary right now, thinking how epic this day was - the longest day in my life.
I decided to join the Brotherhood, because I hadn't done this quest before in my regular playthrough and I was really curious. Also: Paladin Danse promised me a power armor. I already have one, but that means I' ll have at least one more fusion core + the one that I got in the "Synth's Facility". This will help me with my main objective of this permadeath playthrough - completing the first Act of the Main Quest. The Boss Fight(Kellogg) was very difficult in my regular game, so I want to prep as best as I can. So far no difficulties. Wasn't in a single tricky situation. I picked up a weird looking short barrel rifle, which almost looks like a shotgun, but especially against ghouls I still prefer my 10mm pistol. Because it's powerful, and I have many APs. I was a bit lucky against the synths tho - they mostly targeted Danse, so he was kinda like a meatshield. If they targeted me wit their rapid-firing lasers, that would be very tricky, because I have low damage resistance and can die very very quickly. I think I'll equip a power armor as soon as I get my hands on it. I will have enough fusion cores aswell.
